I expect to be there, probably from around 11.30 until 1 or so.

It was wall-to-wall people at the festival, and the lines for the food ticket were so long that we only stayed for 30 minutes and left!

Well that did not go as well as I'd hoped.

Started poorly at the platform of the Davis Sq. T station with an announcement that "due to scheduled maintenance, trains will run only to Kendall, then it's bus service onward from there." You'd think that they might have posted a sign outside the station, maybe.

Anyway, I made it over to Copley (via Lechmere and the Green Line), and it was a gorgeous day for the festival -- bright sun with a late April chill. There were about 17 times as many people as there was sufficient space, but no one seemed to mind too much, though it was just about impossible to reach any of the booths that had been set up. The "performance" stage had the lamest act that I've ever seen -- the emcee introduced an "ensemble" that would play traditional music and display Heian period dress. Alas, the ensemble turned out to be one man and his wife, and there wouldn't be any instruments or music, and his performance was to have his wife help him put on some replica Heian-era clothes. Which he was already wearing. So he took off his clothes and put them back on again. Scintillating.

Still, it was a pleasant enough day, and everyone seemed to be in a congenial mood. Maybe next year they might be able to stage this somewhere with a bit more space.

Same here, it took forever to get home on the shuttle bus and I had to stand, my knee, even with the brace on, was killing me.Too many people, I couldn't inch my way to a booth so saw nothing. All the outdoor cafes had waiting lines but the sidewalks were so uneven I was afraid I'd take another fall.
I should have stayed home with a lovely rose wine singing Sakura in my garden.
