I think the Hilton Riverfront is the closest--the Colts stayed there ffor their game when we were there. There is a waterfront taxi you can take to the stadium from the hotel. Rooms are nice enough, some with a great river view. There is a Ruths Chris Steakhouse in the hotel, as well as a sort of coffee shop place, but the lobby is pretty small. Nice outdoor pool, but I don't know how warm it is in January there. A lady I spoke to on the water taxi said she didn't know how Jacksonville was going to do for the superbowl as there were very few bars in the downtown area.

Most of the parties in a Superbowl week are sponsored by league advertisers, beer companies, the TV networks, etc. The fact that there aren't bars downtown is less important then the fact that someplace in the general geographic area can be used as a base of operations, like one of the nearby beach towns.
The worst thing any Super Bowl town can have is no where to go. That happens, and it'll be years and years before the game comes back, if ever. There's a reason why New Orleans and their older Stadium will see at least several more SB games before Tampa and their brand new stadium.

I know nothing about the hotels, but you'd better make your plans now, not even paying much attention to how close to the stadium you might be. The drawback to JAX is that they don't have as many rooms as will be necessary. Supposedly they will even bring cruise ships in to house people. Our group, Tampa CVB, is slated to stay on Sea Island, GA!! That was not by special request!!
If you are serious about going, hurry hurry!

On the stadium side of the River is the Adams Mark and the Omni and on the other side of the River facing the Adams Mark is the Hilton.
The Adams Mark is clean and new and close to the stadium.
Haven't been inside the Omni but it is just a few blocks over from the Adams Mark.
The Hilton is the oldest and more tired of the three, but perfectly fine..with a great view of downtown. You can see the stadium from there.
You can get across the river easily by water taxi or ferry or by car on a bridge that is almost next to the hotel.
Book now..they are bringing in Cruise ships for people to stay in so don't delay!
