Islands of Adventure??
Hi!
I was wondering if Islands of Adventure is usually as busy on a Friday like it is on a Saturday. I can go either tomorrow or next friday. I know it is busy on the weekends. Does it get better during the week in summer time?
Thanks!
Kimberley

You might want to mention just where Islands of Adventure is the next time you post. I'll admit that I have no earthly idea of what or where you mean. I have a feeling that it's one of the Disney attractions....however???
Generally speaking however, during the summer when school is out, one day is pretty much like the other anywhere. Saturday would be the favorite for those nearby that are merely visiting for the day instead of vacationing.

Going there myself next Tuesday or Thursday - so you go on the weekend, few less people, LOL. Traveling down from NYS
Aileen 679 please note: you reply sounded cranky- Bergamo was asking insiders if one day was busier than the next if she had to post location you probably don't know.

Yeah, I know I sounded cranky, and perhaps I was. However, a lot of information is here for others wanting to plan a trip. If there is no indication of where it might be, it lacks additional information for someone who is NOT an insider. If you think about it....a lot of Name Places could be anywhere in the US and a lot of places overseas.

Islands of Adventure is run by Universal and is in Orlando, FL. Try this link:
http://www.universalorlando.com/?__source=rgmn.gnav
To Granniem: If you're on a budget, they have a $19.99 all day as much as you can eat (at certain food places) pass (hot dog stands, fast food type places, etc.). All you can drink soda would be an additional eight bucks.
If you want a really nice place to eat, and fairly reasonable for the quality, check out Mythonos, which is designed like a giant cave. It's located near the main entrance and entrees are around $15.
One more suggestion . . . if you have a car and get a chance, try to stop at a Sonic Drive-in for a lime rickey and a Fritos corn chip pie! This chain is not up north and features 50s style drive up speakers with burgers, fries, shakes, etc. I know there is at least one in Orlando.

granniem, don't forget: The default setting for the US Forum dumps ALL threads into one main US board. Users have to screen (two clicks) for a specific state "board"-- and then, what you have are screen results, not an actual separate forum page.
Until Fodor's puts the state tag on these message threads, users don't know if a city isn't included in the title. However, there are some easily-discerned patterns on this forum:
-- If someone posts asking for people to review an "itinerary", for some reason the chances are excellent it's an Alaska itinerary.
-- A sizable minority of cryptic "Hotel" requests will refer to Orlando, but the majority are asking about Manhattan.
-- The vast majority of all other vague "help" requests are asking for NYC information.
I'm just sayin'.... It's not incredibly upsetting or anything, it's just human nature.

The point I was trying to make that if you have to put the state in and you want local info., it seems to take away from the insider info. If I put the Tappan Zee in there everyone that has inside info. from my area would know exactly what they mean. If people ask me to put in the state of NY in my request about the Tappan Zee Bridge, they don't really have the insider info. Understand what I am trying to say? "You" know what people are talking about if it is in your neighborhood.

you all will love this park. We actually enjoyed it more then Magic Kingdom. Make sure and go on the spider man ride ( it is 3D), it is not just for kids.. even Dr. Suess was worth the time, everything was ! Wonderful water rides too. we ate right outside the park there is a whole line of restaraunts and they will let you right back in, if you get your hands stamped. Enjoy!

Actually, the restaurant to which budget4me referred is called Mythos. It is wonderful and is right in IOA.
School is out now, so Friday may be crowded also. You could always buy an express plus pass which gives you express entry ONE TIME for each ride. If you get to the park when it opens, you should be able to get a lot done without waiting. By 11:00 it gets very crowded. Go to www.disboards.com and scroll down to the Universal forums for some great info.

granniem, whether you post on an individual state board or on the general US board, ALL posts end up on the US General Board.
Bergamo, Memorial Day through Labor Day, every day is going to pretty busy. However, Saturday and Sunday are usually check in/check out days so they may actually be a little less crowded.

I wouldn't recommend the Universal Meal Deal because it doesn't cover every restaurant in the park, and only offers limited selection. If you're a huge eater and can't stand to go without three meals in the park, it might save you money. My husband and I spent two days at IOA a few weeks ago and our in-park meals consisted of sharing one double cheeseburger and a few snack-type items such as ice cream.
More analysis of the Universal Meal Deal can be found in the Universal Studios forum of www.disboards.com.
Enjoy your trip!

Go Travel, you sound like me - I love coasters and that one espically! What a great ride - LOL.
To the OP: IMHO, Fridays will always be better than Saturdays. Crowd levels are relative. You will have more locals taking their families on the weekend. Fridays in the summer may be crowded but not as crowded as a Saturday.
I would thing the best days in the summer would be Tues and Wed. Most people do a 4 day weekend so those days during the week would be less crowded.
IOA is a great park. Have lunch at Mythos. Not only is it a cool place but the food is great. Also for a fun thing to do, get you palm read at the psychic tent not far from Mythos. I went for a joke only to find a very accurate reading. Ask for Kevin if interested.
Enjoy!
