International Market Closed?

It is scheduled to be closed down at some point. I hadn't heard that it happened yet, but then I rarely go into that part of Waikiki.
You can buy the exact same stuff at the Aloha Stadium swap meet. Obviously you have to travel a bit to get there, but they have more variety at the swap meet.

Actually, the renovation has been delayed due to lack of finances. There will be a renovation some time in the future, but not as grand as the original plans. I just read this in my Nov/Dec issue of "Hawaii" magazine.

it's neither alluring or international anymore...all same crap from the same country...years ago it was nice.. variety, good local entertainment, clean and friendly and good ambiance. no more, it needs a good bulldozing and bring it back to how it was!

That's what I thought.....I encounter so many tourists who insist they want to see the International Marketplace in Waikiki, and when I try to explain that there's nothing but chotchke kiosks, they pooh-pooh me. I keep thinking, "Is there something there that I'm missing?" I tried looking for good eats there a few times recently and wasn't impressed--kind of expensive for fast food.
