Chatuchak weekend market open Fridays?
When I was in Bangkok a couple of years ago I enjoyed a half-day of shopping at the Chatuchak weekend market & would like to go again. However, our itinerary for later this year has us in Bangkok only Tuesday-Friday. Most information I've seen says Chatuchak is only open Saturday and Sunday, but then I came across this on the bangkok-asia-hotels.com website: "The published opening hours for the market are from 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday and Sunday, though many of the stalls actually open sometime between 9.00am and 10.00am and close around sunset. Chatuchak is also open on Friday as a market for wholesalers, but there is no problem doing normal shopping on this day either (same opening times). The Garden Plants section is also open on Wednesdays and Thursday from 7.00am to 6.00pm." Can anyone confirm that the market really is open Fridays? I haven't seen this info anywhere else & would love to go if it's open on Fridays but don't want to get there only to find it's closed. Thanks.

Jatujak is indeed opn Fridays. However about 60% of it and it opens later than on Sats and Sundays i.e. around 10:30. I prefer Fris as is far less crowded. The other market people are referring to is I think the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Near Lumpini Park. Def worth a dekko IMO. Opens daily around 6:30. Open until 10. The food court there has good Thai food too. A bit more exp than Jatujak for similar stuff but easier to reach and u can use an evening to go there.

lbrown7 -- we went last friday and had a great time. be prepared to bargain as nothing is marked. many shops were open at 11:00am and still opening throughout the day. there was plenty of shopping available...and i mean plenty! it was nice not having the crowds that are most likely overwhelming and sticky during the weekend (unless you go very early when it's cooler). have fun!
