Info needed about "light rail"-- SeaTac to downtown??

Announcement made in Newspaper--This service to start Dec.19. Is it really in service??
Does it go all the way downtown with out change to buses??
The one in Portland OR. is very convenient. I have high hopes for the Seattle one...

It is indeed in service and yes, it goes right to downtown. The one drawback I've been hearing about is that it's about a 1/4 mile walk from the airport terminal to the station.

The station is on the far side of the parking garage, connected to the garage by a sky bridge. It's about as far from the ticket counters to the station as it is from the ticket counters to the far gates on, say, the C or D concourse, maybe a bit farther. It's covered all the way but exposed to outside air for much of the distance, and I suppose in a driving rain you might feel a spritz or two, but we don't generally have that kind of weather.

At the downtown end, there are certainly winners and losers among the hotels that might benefit, owing to the train/bus tunnel's location relative to them, steep hills, etc.

Thanks for the details...I was wishing for station to be a bit more convenient..
PDX- walk down few steps from baggage pick up, out door and you are there...
Atlanta--you do have to walk to north (not sure of direction) end of terminal to board but it is all indoors..
Next trip I'll give it a try....

We are staying at the Westin in downtown Seattle in July...how far of a walk is it to the hotel from the stop? I don't mind a little walk and the walk to it from the airport doesn't scare me away. Thanks! Sarah

The Westin is going to be about 4-5 blocks from the Westlake stop (the end of the line downtown).

Isn't the Westin just 1 1/2 blocks from the Westlake Center entrance/exit to the tunnel? 4th and Pine v. 5th and Westlake (hotel?)

Is there a different entrance/exit to the tunnel than the one under Macy's on Pine and 3rd? If so then yes the Westin might be closer than I'm thinking.
