Does anyone have any information regarding the 3800 block of Clearview Parkway in Metairie, Louisiana? (It's between Veterans Blvd and West Esplanade.)My home is there and I am very upset and worried. Thank you.---Michelle

New Orleans' Times-Picayune newspaper -- www.nola.com -- is a good source, too.

My brothers house is in Metairie so I've also been trying to find out what I can. I heard some information that the area south of Veterans between Bonneville and something else was dry. I thought the TV said btwn. Bonneville and Orleans but my brother said that didn't seem right.
The Time Picayune was unable to publish yesterday because they were flooded.
Michelle, let me know what you hear about Metairie. And god be with you.

As a former Louisianian and a current Panhandle Hurricane Ivan veteran My prayers are with everyone along the Gulf Coast. Words cannot even describe the devistation that LA, MS and the Mobile Bay area are enduring. I have been listening to NoLa radio station 870 WWL and it does not sound good. WWL has a clear channel signal and can be heard throughout the southeast. It has been a great source for what is happening in New Orleans. I would strongly suggest that you try to listen to this station. New orleanians are calling from all over the southeast checking on their neighborhoods and it should be more informative than any other news you are getting. FEMA has provided a generator to them to broadcast and people are calling in with their stories. Their information coming out of the city is hours and days ahead of what you hear on the major news channels that are broadcasting to the masses. Mayor Nagin and Dr. Maestrie are saying that it will be months before New Orleans will be in any condition to accept residents much less visitors back into town. Their worst nightmare has been realized. The city will not have visitors until 2006.
New Orleans will be back and better than ever and will reclaim its position as one of the WORLDS great cities.
GOD BLESS

There is a recent satellite photo posted:

Most of Metairie that is west of the 17th St Canal and north of Metairie Rd (Hwy 611) seem to be dry. That satellite photo doesn't go as far west as Clearview Parkway, but I think your house should be fine. Don't see too much wind damage from the photo.

There's now a satellite coverate of New Orleans taken 8/31 on maps.google.com. Very high resolution. This should cover the 3800 block of Cleariew Parkway; but the OP may also have already been allowed back briefly to take belongings.
