On the San Francisco Craigslist board, under vacation rentals, there's always a bunch of Lake Tahoe rentals. You should be able to find something there.

There's also a ton of old-fashioned motels. How are you getting there?

Try Three Peaks Resort. You can usually get a good deal. It's right on Park which is very close to Heavenly Village with the scenic gondola, dining and shopping. You will be very near a great grocery store (Raleys)that also has hot food as well as a full deli and bakery. You'd be able to walk to all thes places unless you are unable to typically walk very far.

A junior king suite with a king bed in one room and a pull out couch in the other is around $90.

So you need something within walking distance from Amtrak stop, or you will be using local buses? I think they are called Blue Go.

You can check Expedia, if you click on the hotel map you will see where they are and how much - but this will be for 2 people. It will be more on the next screen for 4.

Dayenu is correct. You can use Blue Go to shuttle around. Three peaks a short walk down Park Ave from the main road - unless it's really stormin' - then the walk won't seem so short.
