Ideas for Nashville

Hi,
My husband and I are taking a trip to Nashville the first week of May. We are going to a show at the Grand Ole Opry and touring Country Music Hall of Fame. Thinking about Graceland or Dollywood. Are there any things we shouldn't miss?

What is your preference in music - Elvis or Dolly?
Do you want to see the Great Smoky Mountains or the Mississippi and Beale Street in Memphis?
Where you are coming from (car or plane) might have a bearing on which you want to see.

We just went in December. If you are foodies, definitely do the Nashville Food Adventure tour. My fav. thing while there. Loved Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. There was no one I wanted to see at The Ryman while we were there, but I would have gone had there been.

Graceland is about 4 hours away from Nashville and Dollywood maybe 3 or more.

I had some family visit me recently and we did the hop on hop off trolley tour. If we didn't have kids, I would have chosen the Nash Trash Tours which are always fun. Cheekwood Botanical Gardens are lovely but be prepared to walk. Also the Frist Art Museum.

We did the Ryman tour and even though I've been there before it is a wonderful experience.

I'd allow at least 4 hours to get to Dollywood (I live in Nashville but am from Knoxville, and it takes me nearly three just to get there; Dollywood is easily another hour). Personally I wouldn't do either that or Graceland as a day trip.

I like the backstage tour at the Ryman, along with the CMHOF. If you're out at the Opry complex, take the time to see the hotel for sure.

Ok thanks I didn't know everything was so far apart. We are driving from New York so we might be able to see Dollywood on the way down. We are definite foodies so the food tour sounds really interesting.
