I need some trip ideas.
I'm looking to take a weekend getaway with my wife on the weekend of November 6th. I live in southeast TN and will be flying out of Chattanooga or Atlanta. I had thought I might go on the northeast coast but I think it will be too cool to enjoy so I'm looking for other ideas. I'm looking to fly out on Sat and come back on Mon or Tue.
We will be traveling by ourselves (we have no kids), I'm 31 and she's 28, and we could be categorized as "middle class."
Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

I absolutely love to visit Chicago, but if you are worried about cool weather it might not be the place for you that time of year. What about New Orleans? You say you have a free companion ticket, so I'm assuming you are flying Southwest. Southwest flies to lots of fun vacation destinations - what about Phoenix, Washington DC, or Las Vegas?

I would head out and fly into Phoenix and stay the night there and then drive up to Sedona for 3 days..2 hour drive and one of the most visual stunning places on earth.
Check expedia.com for deals.
For solid 3* hotels, we like Best Western Inn of Sedona, Hyatt Pinion, Hilton, La Quinta Inn, Sedona Rouge resort.
All under $200 but have gotten most for around $100 but just depends on the time of year and who's having what deal.
Luxury hands down is Enchantment resort..they had this for $250 on expedia.com a couple of months ago..usually goes for around $700+ a night for a casita.
Great hiking, eating and drinking.
If that doesn't work, come to San Diego..we love our tourists and its still warm and great deals in November.
Happy to help!

It's funny you mention the Phoenix area because that is the way I was leaning. My only snag has been that I don't play golf and my wife is not a huge "spa" person because she thinks most services are overpriced.
Sedona is not an area I am very familiar with so I would love to hear more about it such as things to do, etc.
We are planning a big California trip for next summer so San Diego is out for our "weekend getaway."
Thanks for the help everyone.

Sedona is up in the mountains and can be cold in November. I suggest Tucson--about 120 miles south of Phoenix. It will be warm, but not as hot as Phoenix. Tucson has quite a few attractions well-worth investigating, including the ones with *** on this list: http://www.frommers.com/destinations...8_indattr.html
Living in the NW, we find Tucson's surroundings to be exotic. You won't need to play golf, and your wife won't feel compelled to wile away her time and money on somebody lighting a scented candle and sprinkling her with rose petals.
