Fall in Orlando. No kids: work (1 day)and leisure (6 days) with my wife. I get good rates for both hotels. What is the good choice? Help!

My vote goes to Portofino Bay. The Hyatt Grand Cypress is somewhat tired while the PB is brand new.

We stayed at Hyatt Grand Cypress in March and it is gorgeous! We must have shot an entire roll of film just in the grounds, they were so pretty. Our room was fresh and very attractive. I don't see how anyone could possibly consider it tired if they had actually been guests. I believe assumptions were made by someone who never actually stayed there but knew only when both hotels were built, hardly a fair comparison when most hotels renovate every few years. Do a search for Hyatt Grand Cypress. It consistently gets wonderful reviews here, which helped us make our selection.

Wow, tough choice. I have only stayed at the PB, but good friend stayed at Hyatt. I felt very pampered at PB (feather beds, big bath area, great balconies, totally European atmosphere), plus many dinner/party choices at City Walk nearby. I think the Hyatt would have more kids there, but friends really liked their stay. They have shuttle to Disney, vs PB shuttle via boat to Universal Studios. Hope this helps.

we opted for Hard Rock Hotel( going in a few days) but if u will be spending alot of time at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure then you will DEFINATLEY want to stay at PB be cause guests who stay onsite get front of the line access on rides at both parks.
