Hyatt Grand Cayman

Has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cayman? I know the name Hyatt is supposed to be luxury, but I am getting mixed notes on the resorts in Cayman Island. I realize that most of the rooms at the Hyatt are not on the beach, that is ok.

Is the pool nice? What about the beach?

Thanks

The majority of the rooms at the Hyatt are ACROSS the street from the beach.

Susan and Chuck--Just be PATIENT and wait until the new Ritz-Carlton opens in late 2003; then you won't have any worries at all!

It's all relative to your own personal expectations. We stayed at the Hyatt in March 2002. Love the resort and are considering going back. We too saw mixed reviews between the Hyatt and the Marriott. We were not disappointed. We stayed in one of their Regency Club rooms. Outstanding service! The rooms were very nice. Maid service was excellent, never had to ask for extra towels, which we always find our selves having to when we go elsewhere. Most rooms are across the street, but it is a very pleasant walk to the beach. Landscaping is very nice. Three pools, two with bars. We enjoyed two of their restaurants very much, but would not recommend the restaurant associated with the golf course. In my opinion, a very nice resort. But it all depends on what you are used to. We were not disappointed!

A great place to stay in Grand Cayman is the Comfort Inn, has a tiny sand part of the beach but it is an affordable alternative to the Hyatt.

The Hyatt is a beautiful property, period. Walk to the beach?....easy walk, and very nice. Can't imagine anyone complaining about this property.

But if you really want the best deal in Grand Cayman, RENT A CONDO!! I am amazed how many people spend the big bucks for a hotel room, when they could EASILY find a much bigger condo, for the same price. If you want to enjoy some of the hotel amenities, simply get a condo near one of the bigger hotels. This is not rocket science, condos are the way to go in GC....period.
