I bought Plane Tickets to FLL- Now What?
I bought Plane Tickets to FLL- Now What?
I have been looking to for a place to stay in the FLL area, I included Miami and Palm Beach in my search. I was hoping to stay at the Turnberry in Adventura, but they sold out the package I wanted to stay under, I am now looking at the Lago Mar, or Eden Rock, or Boca Raton Resort.
I will be traveling with my wife and 6 month old daughter in Mid May. I am looking for a place to stay where we can be on the beach, and near a pool where we might be able to have some drinks. Also, we were hoping for a place that may offer baby sitting services. My wife and I would like a romantic dinner. Also, the room would have to be large enough to accomodate a crib. I have been looking at the $200/night range, but will pay more for a good value. I have looked at many previous responses and there is no clear winner, I have considerd the Marriott in FLL, but it is very expensive, and all in all it is not a great value...Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try posting a "Want to Rent" ad @ www.TUG2.net for Marriott Ocean Point on Singer Island (Palm Beach Shores near West Palm) or for Marriott Beach Place Towers in FLL (across the road fm the beach).
Lago Mar is a good choice (try to get one of the renovated suites).

I think Lago Mar would be perfect for you. Definetly get a 1 BR suite-they are very nice and have seperate living room. Also dining room table and small kitchenette with frig.,microwave,dishes,ect. 2 nice pools on the property overlooking the beach. Also beach bar, nice restaurant.

I can't help with babysitting issues but I can suggest
1)bidding on Priceline for a RESORT property. Look at biddingfortravel.com They have a list of the properties you're likely to get in each area.
2)OR, look at the website roomsaver.com for savings at places you'd like.
3)In addition to the places you've mentioned, there are 2 Marriott properties in Del Ray Beach (one's a hotel, the other's a condo)that are right on the ocean that people love.
4)I agree with wow about Singer Island as a possible location. It's got a beautiful beach & the hotels there tend to be cheaper although maybe not as fancy as the oens you mentioned.. If you don't want to rent a condo, I think a lot of the major chains have hotels there. (Hilton, Radisson, Holiday Inn, Sheraton).
5.You might check for pkgs at the Four Seasons or the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach. They're both actually in Manalapan.

It would be a long walk to Las Olas-I'm guessing about a mile, but I may be wrong. Walking along the beach to Las Olas is a shorter distance. When taking the streets, there is a lot of twisting and turning around the canal to get there.

Gibson, I may be off here...but have you considered a cruise out of FLL? The Enchantment does 4-5 day cruises and is a lovely ship.Others sail from FLL and Miami as well. No driving, plenty of babysitting, lots of romantic possibilities. Plus being mid-May should be dirt cheap and not full of teen-agers. A really easy trip for folks like you, and probably will be less for all you get at that time of year than a hotel, meals out, etc.

sgibson, How much are planning on spending for your hotel. Last year we stayed at Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. Loved this hotel. It's also located directly on the beach. We got a good rate using priceline. Just bid on resort hotels in Ft. Lauderdale. This is the only resort hotel listed for Ft. Lauderdale on priceline. We payed $105.00 a night. Worth it.
