I am in Boston all of next week on business (no car) and found a rate for $189/night at this hotel. For about $30-$40 more a night I can stay at either the Lenox or the Eliot which are nearby. What do you all think? This hotel is on 50 Park Plaza & Arlington, so it's just as centrally located as the Eliot/Lenox.

I've been seeing mixed reviews about the Boston Park Plaza and am wondering if anyone has had recent experiences they might be able to share. I'd like to save the money if possible, but not worth it if the hotel is going to be a miserable experience as I'm there for 5 days/4 nights.

I live in Boston so I haven't stayed there but the rooms are a little bit on the older side. That being said, the hotel is perfectly nice and is very well located with a T stop less than a block away. I don't think you'll be miserable at all.

Thanks Wyatt.. I'd read some reviews from people who found themselves in dirty rooms..kind of skeeved me out! I'll keep my reservation but may check out one other hotel. I appreciate your response!

My daughter and I stayed there for 4 nights in October 2004. Our plane was delayed and we didn't arrive till midnight (without luggage, which arrived at 6 a.m.). We had made our reservation through Priceline and I wondered on the cab ride from Logan what kind of customer service we would get. Turns out they had given our reserved room away. But this worked to our benefit, as we got a beautiful corner suite. We used the concierge service to book restaurants in the North End and help with sightseeing. There is a McCormick & Schmidt's in the hotel, an Au Bon Pain next door for breakfast and the access to the T, Boston Common and other sights was great. Would recommend.

haven't stayed at the Park Plaza but I have stayed at the Lenox. The Lenox is very nice, the rooms are beautifully decorated in a very traditional formal way. The Citybar in the lobby is cool - more contemporary than the rest of the hotel.

The Lenox sounds like a better choice. My son stayed at the Park Plaza for a HS conference ten years ago, and he thought it was kind of sub-standard. That coming from a 17 year-old who would not be typically too picky...Of course, I cannot say it is not better now, but many have said it is serviceable, at best....Lenox location is also more "fun", IMO. Especially if you are there for a week! That is a long time to be in a place that is kind of drab and depressing...the rooms, I mean.

The Park Plaza is sooo centrally located to theatres and restaurants..The Lenox a few blocks away in Copley Square, both are older hotels. There is a Legal Seafoods across the street, McCormick and Schmidt, a great little theatre across the street, Finale, a dessert restaurant..You might want to check out the room and if not happy move to the Lenox.

I stayed at the Park Plaza two years ago in April. For some reason, they upgraded us to the Concierge Level. My guess is that they had pity on a young couple (ok kind of young) because the hotel was clearly the host hotel for some HUGE cheerleading competition. I mean I have seen cheerleaders but this was crazy. The location was good and the rooms were clean until my boyfriend (husband now) decided to "decorate" the room after a night of drinking with some REAL Irish friends of ours. He was sure we were going to get a cleaning bill but we didn't so I love the hotel.

Oh my God Cold War that was so funny! And so appropriate for my group of friends...I could see one or two of them having a story like that!

Hi - the Park Plaza is a great location as there are many restaurants within walking distance, but the rooms are definately not great. They are pretty small and somewhat run down. I don't know too much about the rooms at either the Lenox or Eliot - but you can't beat the location of the Park Plaza.

The Lenox is definitely a better hotel than the Park Plaza. The Park Plaza is a mere 5 blocks/1 T stop from the Lenox, so you're not talking much in terms of differences in location.

The Eliot is really nice but on Mass Ave so it might be a bit further from the stuff you have planned.

If it were me, I'd choose the Lenox.
