It all depends on which service you have. We just traveled the area or Northern Arizona and Southern Utah with my BIL and SIL and between us we had three different companies. Verison, AT & T wireless and Cingular.
Cingular did NOT have service at the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Bryce or Zion or on the highways in the area. It did work in Las Vegas.
AT&T was the only one that worked on the rim of the Grand Canyon but service wasn't always available at the other locations. It did work in Las Vegas.
Verison worked the best at Lake Powell, Bryce, Zion and in some places on the roads between these parks. We know there were a few locations that it didn't work because we tried to make calls and lost service for short periods of time. It did work in Las Vegas.
So alot will depend on the cellular company you have.
