How well do cell phones operate in Utah?
Here is a correction of the above title. Sorry about the typo.
|
I have a cell phone through Verizon and have used it when vacationing in Utah. Except for going through canyons, or in a few areas where there are no towers, I have been able to use it in most places.
|
We used ours from a camground at Bryce, also from Hoveweep NM. I don't know if we tried at Zion, since it's in a canyon.
|
I found the Park City area to have great service--on the tops of the mountains, as well as the base. I reasoned that they must have upgraded the towers to give good coverage when the Olympics were in town.

It all depends on which service you have. We just traveled the area or Northern Arizona and Southern Utah with my BIL and SIL and between us we had three different companies. Verison, AT & T wireless and Cingular.
Cingular did NOT have service at the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Bryce or Zion or on the highways in the area. It did work in Las Vegas. AT&T was the only one that worked on the rim of the Grand Canyon but service wasn't always available at the other locations. It did work in Las Vegas. Verison worked the best at Lake Powell, Bryce, Zion and in some places on the roads between these parks. We know there were a few locations that it didn't work because we tried to make calls and lost service for short periods of time. It did work in Las Vegas. So alot will depend on the cellular company you have. Utahtea |
Nextel did not work at all in UTAH or at Lake powell, not enough subscribers.
