How Often Should Parents Visit Children?

I would talk to your child and child in law about what they think. If they are comfortable with it, and you like doing it, keep it up. In my own situation, I would think every 6 months makes more sense. FYI, I'm not young (my kids are 21 and 16), although I thought I'd give my 2 cents anyway.

Dear Grandmother Kate,
Both of my parents recently passed away. Prior to their unexpected demise they lived 1,000 miles away and only saw my children once a year when we visited them at spring break. I will always regret not seeing them more! Please continue to visit your grandchild! I am sure if your children think you come to often they will come up with a tactful way to say "let us visit you next time." Don't let your grandchild loose you! CM

Good Grief!!! It is old, isn't it!!!
However, IMHO, people that ask questions like this on an open forum are asking for validation that they are doing the correct thing. I suspect that they have already asked their friends and other kinfolk and have been told something that they did not want to hear. They already know what they should do, but that doesn't suit. So they ask strangers.

I'm so glad that I have a great relationship with my Mom and live on the same property, different house, unlike some of you. 3-4 times a year excessive? Hardly. these people gave birth/sired you so they deserve some respect from their children. Personally I wouldn't move 16 hrs away from my biological family but since they (the couple) decided to make the move getting a rare visit from their parents shouldn't be an issue.

If you suspect you are visiting too much, you probably are, and, if you really want to know the answer to your question, don't visit again until you receive a very enthusiastic invitation.
