How Often are you ACTUALLY asked for your AAA card?

Does anyone ever get asked to see their AAA card when they use it for a discount. I can't remember the last time it happened to me.

I used to take Amtrak a lot and AAA gives a 10% discount. The ticket agent asked for the AAA card every time when I bought at ticket at the window. But when I bought tickets online, all I needed to do was to type in my AAA# and pick the ticket up at the E-kiosk.

I have NEVER been asked for my AAA card when I use it to get a discount at a hotel. I usually make a reservation online, and although it says you will be asked to show your card, it hasn't happened yet.

Never at a hotel, usually at car rental counters. Go figure.

Some motels do ask to see the AAA card to receive the discount. However, I show it every time I lock myself out of the car or need help with a flat tire or dead battery. And, I give my member number to AAA everything I order a guidebook or map--which I do often. I wouldn't be without my AAA card and I must have saved thousands of dollars on hotels, motels, and car rentals using it.

I've been asked for the card at most hotels when I've used it for the discount. Maybe I look untrustworthy.

Travelkitty--On the other hand, maybe you just appear to be too young to have learned the value of being an AAA member.

Too bad that reason doesn't apply to me, jimshep! I was asked for my card at the Lucerne in NYC. I had changed purses and forgotten to bring it along. They gave me the discount anyway.

In 20 years of using AAA discounts,I have never been asked for it except when getting maps or road service from AAA.

I've never had to show my Costco card either, and I use it a lot for rental cars.

Guess I look like a AAA/costco type of woman....

I've never been asked for it at a hotel and only occasionally for a car rental. Hell, I've even had AAA service and didn't have to show it!

Hotels usually do not ask - but Ihave had it happen once or twice. Car rentals always ask as do other attractions - Sea World etc.
