How much for food in Ohau?

My wife and two boys are planning a trip to Ohau (Waikiki) Jun 04. How much should we expect to pay per day for food? I'm thinking around 150$ per day. Is this reasonable/too high/low? Are there inexpensive places around?

The trick is to maxamise your dollar , but not to compromise the vacation experience. Look at eateries on this site there are many that are good and reasonable. There are many fast food places like , subway , mc donalds etc. for lunch and breakfast and they are about 10-20 % higher than the states. One fun thing to do is to get sandwiches and walk to the duke statue area , most evenings they have a free hula show at dusk and watch the show from the beach and eat your sandwiches or burgers. So to answer your question yes $150. is reasonable. NICK

There are lots of stands in Waikiki that have coupon books. Check those out. If you like Japanese food, Shirokiya in the Ala Moana Shopping Center has specials after 3:00. You can also try the foodcourt at the Shopping Center. Also, check out Zippy's and places serving "plate lunches.

elvis,

Honolulu and Waikiki have every variety of restaurant that any other major American city has...fast food to the extremely upscale fine dining. We found everything to be at 30 to 50% higher than in the 48 states including groceries and fast food and casual dining.

We did end up buying 3 entertainment books for the 6 of us to enjoy lots of values and they more than paid for themselves in the first day or 2! We had no problem using the 2 for 1 coupons anyplace and there was no problem using 3 coupons for 6 meals so you could buy 2 books for the 4 of you. You can order online at entertainment.com.

Easy to stay in budget. Good ramen houses are cheap and plate lunches or dinners run about $6-10 per person and are pretty tasty if you find the right places. Try the malasadas at Ala Moana food court..... delicious food can be found for small $$.
