A few logisitical questions...I was looking into the afternoon (1:00 departure)Lake Powell float trip in Page on the same day we leave the Grand Canyon North Rim. What would our time frame be? Our first morning in Page, we are taking the Antelope Canyon tour, and I didn't want two tours back to back (I wasn't sure we'd be back in time for the float trip). Also, is the Glen Canyon Dam right in Page? (So we could go to it after the morning Antelope Canyon tour?) Thanks!

From GC North Rim to page is about 125 miles. It will take you around 3 hours to drive it. So, yes, you could make it easily, depending on what time you leave the north rim.

And, yes, Glen Canyon Dam is right outside Page.

I think 145 miles is closer to it. If you come via US 89 A, the boat tours are a few miles away from Page itself.

Three hours will give you time, but you cannot pause too much along the way.

Marble Canyon will be a tempting stop.

I would not say the dam is "right in" Page, although it is close. You must cross the bridge and drive away from the dam and then double back to reach the launch area. If you want the Wahweap Marina, it is 6 miles from Page.

From the North Rim (not just the entrance station..but the actual N. Rim) I get 121 miles to Page.

Driving times can vary a lot and a lot of it will depend on if you get stuck behind a slow moving motorhome or not. The roads in and out of the park are narrow curvey roads...very few places to pass, so you can get stuck for a while..motorhomes can't go fast...so plan on 4 hours to be extra safe!

It's ALWAYS good to allow extra time, particularly in you have an appointment to keep.

Thanks for the input. I am assuming I can check out of the North Rim lodge early, and yes, we will allow extra time (particularly since the float trip is paid in advance). We are actually staying at Wahweap (Lake Powell Resort), but we will probably go straight to the float tour.

Utahtea, it was nice to hear from you. I had to laugh because when I was just reading my Fodor's guide to Arizona and the Grand Canyon (2007), and I came across your quote on p. 264. I'm sure you knew that...

I had heard I was quoted in the Fodor's Guide to Arizona, but I haven't seen that one yet. Last October when I was in Zion National Park I was checking out the Fodor's Guild to Utah and was all excited when I found Utahtea being quoted...so I bought the book then and there! In the Utah 2006 edition, I'm on page 243 alone with Dayle (who had was featured in two locations!).
