How do I find my trip report post?
Hello there, can anyone help me find a trip report I posted a week or so ago (can't be sure because I can't find it!)? I enter my name, and it doesn't come up (although other things do), and I enter the subject line and variations thereof, and still nothing (although plenty of other messages whose titles don't even contain the key words). I wanted to direct a friend to it (and incidentally to acquaint him with this board), but I don't know how.

After many years here, I still can't figure out how to find my very recent posts. They really don't show up in a search right away. Seriously, clicking on your screen name won't bring up everything you've posted on in the last few weeks.
I recently tried to bring up a trip report I wrote in May, and no matter how I try.....my screen name, words I used in the title, etc., it won't come up. I was trying to ttt it for another poster!

Were you looking for the Treasure Island trip report? If so, I just topped it.
It was your #42 post I found when I clicked on your screen name from your last post on this thread.
The search function is virtually useless for recent posts. They must be at least 2 months behind in cataloging threads.

Yes, it will. But there is a bit of a glitch that means sometimes you have to click on your name twice. Click on your name and normally all of your threads will display. But to be sure, simply click on your name again at the top of the frame w/ the thread list. If the first "name click" doesn't bring up every thread, the 2nd click will.

Thank you Starrsville and Janis. I was beginning to think it was something I was doing wrong, but didn't know what!
Yes, Starrsville, it was the Treasure Island post. I wanted to top it for Bonniebroad before she went there.
Thanks again!

I honestly believe there is something wrong with Fodor's search engine. I've mentioned it before but the problem remains, it simply does not pick up everything it should. If you want an example just type in the name of a city that is commonly discussed and see for yourself how many gaps there are.

Vittrad, you are so right.
The search feature stinks - don't even try putting in two words, for example I just entered "Philly" and "cheesesteak", and even though I KNOW there's a current thread with this title, as well as numerous threads mentioning these things, the only 2005 post it shows are from 1/

The search feature used to be very efficient here, but sure does not seem to be working in the past couple of months. I tried several of the recommended approaches (clicking twice, etc) and still did not get anything of mine more recent than 6-8 weeks ago. All the more frustrating since it used to be so easy to refer back to any previous post...

tuckerdc: I just clicked on your name and brought up TONS of posts, including several from today. Where are you clicking on your name? There are several places - at the top of each forum, on the main home page, at the top of the thread list after you have clicked ones, from a post w/i a thread, etc. Not all of them work as well as others. Clicking on you name w/i a thread seems to be the most fool proof, and clicking it at the top of the thread list after clicking once seems to be just about as good.
But clicking on the home page or on the general forum page are the ones that seem to have the most problems . . . .
