How Best to Get to Atlantic City
A group of adults are traveling to NYC this fall and my uncle (the only male) wants to go to Atlantic City one evening while the ladies go to a play. 1. How would you suggest getting there? 2. How long would it take? 3. Is it worth it? We plan to gamble and eat and don't want to get back too late. Is it possible to go just for a few hrs? It doesn't look like there is a train from NYC to AC. Any thoughts welcome.

NYC to Atlantic City is probably about 2 hours; easiest most hassle-free way is a casino bus. Heck, they used to give you a bonus making the trip virtually free Here's one link:

Is it worth it? Depends how badly uncle wants to go! But yes, it's possible to go for just a few hours.

Academy casino buses out of the Port Authority on 8th and 42nd are your best bet. You will receive most the the bus fare back from the casino when you arrive.
Having said that, factor in 5 hours for the roundtrip commute. Probably more time than you want to spend if you are planning on getting back at a reasonable hour.
