Houston Hotel for Super Bowl

Should the Patriots make the Super Bowl, I have 2 tickets to go. Would like to reserve a room now to avoid last minute crunch.

Can anyone provide me with info and suggestions on a hotel in Houston, preferably near Reliant Stadium (which I believe is downtown) that is fairly decent and won't break me?

Thanks so much

J

Most hotels have been reserved for months if not years.

I'd go through whichever travel agent the Patriots recommend because they probably have a block of rooms.

Please note that hotels will be EXPENSIVE as in two-three times normal.

Jim...Most rooms are already booked as Dan said. When it was held in Tampa, our hotel was sold out months in advance, well before anyone knew who was coming. You are extremely lucky to have tickets, though--just find a room, any room, quickly, be prepared for sticker shock and for a several day minimum stay.

Good luck to the Patriots...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them as well, one of the few other teams I can get interested in now that our Bucs have completely fallen on their faces, and the Boys blew it last week.

You might want to look in the Houston Chronicle for weekend rentals, as all the hotels are booked (unless you are a frequent flyer person and can pull rank)

Here is the newspaper link for Super Bowl info:

You'll find virtually nothing available for independent booking. For Super Bowls all the lodging is booked more than 6 months in advance. You can find motels/cheap hotels on the periphery of the metro areas, but you'll find nothing nice or close in on your own. And the packages are very inflated, of course.
The old supply and demand laws work against individual travellers when it comes to Super Bowls.

Just to let y'all know, those places he is mentioning are in the hinterlands on very unattractive freeways with a total void of any ambiance. But it may be all you can do at this point. BTW, Reliant Stadium is not in the downtown area but about 6 miles south of downtown.

FYI: Just heard from a news station in Houston, that all hotels in Houston are booked!! You might be able to get a hotel 50 miles or so from Houston... And the rates are outrageous!!! GOOD-LUCK!!

PS: If you have an extra ticket, I'll trade you a bedroom at my house for the ticket!!
