where is a good place to stay in new orleans--not real expensive but with a good location to the french quarter

We always stay at the Holiday Inn Chateau La Moyne-it's not in the middle of the Quarter, but nice and only about 3-4 blocks from the heart of Bourbon street. P.S. hope the Bears will have a better season than last year, but it's not looking good so far!

We also stayed at the Holiday Inn. It is very nice and well located. Just make sure they do NOT give you a room next to the elevator. We had to have our room switched.

We stayed at the Lafitte Guest house, a lovely B&B at the quiet end of Bourbon St. It was beautiful, moderately priced, well located, and they delivered breakfast every morning to the balcony right next to our room, over looking the courtyard.

I know there will be people that disagree with me but here goes. We usually stay at the Wyndam Bourbon Orleans. It is right on Bourbon and Royal and in the center of the Quarter. We usually can find rates for under $100. We have stayed there 3 times including when my daughter had her wedding there. Ask for a courtyard room. Very quiet

The Bourbon Orleans is currently undergoing a multimillion dollar facelift. Many rooms are closed. Check with the hotel before booking anything as the renovation is going to make a mess of things for a few months. FYI. The hotel's location is superb and I'm glad to see a much-need overhaul take place.

We stay at the Ramada Inn on Bourbon - the rooms facing the pool/courtyard are comparably priced and fairly quiet as opposed to the rooms facing Bourbon St. You might also get a reasonable price for rooms on Toulouse with a balcony. The hotel is fairly centrally located in the Quarter so it's easy to walk most places you might want to visit.

hi. just back from 4 days in new-orleans. we did stay at astor-crown plaza,located on the corner of canal street and burbon street. LARGE room, excelent service,and they have a swimmingpool on 2nd floor with a view of burbon street.dont remember the price, but it was not that expencive.

We just returned Mon(1st)from New Orleans crazy Southern Decadence celebration this past weekend. We had booked thru Hotwire and got the Sheraton-500 Canal St.What a gorgeous hotel-4 * for a mere$59.Beautiful, expansive lobby, featuring a huge open lounge area, gigantic screen tv-even Starbuck's was in there! The rooms were just lovely-we had a simple room with king bed,marble bath, large desk and oversized leather chair.The view was wonferful!We were on the 44th floor-could see practically the entire city. They checked us in 4 hours early with no problem whatsoever. Consierge very helpful with all our questions. Food in hotel restaurant was pricey-but we were already prepared with our discount coupons to eat around town-so no problem.Boy can you save some money printing the various coupons on-line! Our favorite was Cannon's on St.Charles-crabcakes and the red snapper were great!Be sure to get a full-day pass for the streetcar to get around town-you will love it!
