I will be going to Muskogee, Oklahoma next month to visit someone and I am looking for a hotel to book; however, I am only 20 yrs old. Are there any hotels in Muskogee that will allow someone under the age of 21 to check themselves in? I have my own card to pay for the reservation.

Restrictions by hotels to those under the age of 21 booking rooms apply in areas frequented by young people on Spring Break, e.g. Daytona Beach. You should not encounter any problems booking a hotel room in Muskogee, OK since you are over the age of 18 and, thus, a legal adult. You can easily book online at any of the chain hotels in Muskogee--La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc. You won't need to provide proof of age when you book and I seriously doubt they will ask for proof-of-age when you check in unless you look like you are 15 or something.

I was just in Muskogee Saturday for a basketball tournament. It is about an hour from where we live. Just so you know both Muskogee and Tulsa are somewhat unsafe(for the past few years). I don't think you would have any problems, but just pay attention to your surroundings. Not trying to scare you, just want you to have awareness. My daughter is 19 and I would tell her the same thing, if she were staying there.

Not to hijack this thread but I am curious about your comment that Tulsa is unsafe...DD, my sister and I are heading there in early March and were looking forward to exploring the arts district, etc.

Most hotels ask for ID/drivers license when you check in. If they care about age, they will certainly know the OP's age. Make a few phone calls and ask. - look on tripadvisor for names of hotels.

The above statistics are thru 2011. In 2013 there were 54 murders, so it is not going down. 15 years ago Tulsa was extremely safe city. Now it ranks very low.

We go to Tulsa all the time and don't think a thing about it really.

Crime is not evenly distributed.

If you stay out of certain neighborhoods and certain bars at certain times, your chances of experiencing serious crime are very, very low, whatever the statistics for the area as a whole show.

Young people are less likely to stay out of these places at these times than old geezers like me.

I see the news every night. I'm an hour away. Example, shooting in Muskogee Mall last year. I do feel pretty safe when I'm in Tulsa, but I have to wonder if I'm being realistic.

It looks like this thread has gotten a bit off-subject. The OP says he/she is going to visit someone in Muskogee. I imagine his/her friend knows enough about Muskogee to stay where it's safe.
