In 2003 we stayed here....Hotel Record, 35 Calzada Vieja, San Sebastian 20013
www.hotelreoord.com
It is in the city, but in a quiet area, has only 9 rooms, more of a bed and breakfast. Very pleasant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have both rooms with private and rooms with shared bath. We paid EU 60 for a room with bath. Breakfast there...... continental ws an additional EU 3.

<<Thanks. I had tried going there. Looks charming. Can we walk to the Parte Vieja from this location?>>
I don't have an answer to this question. I would suggest emailing the hotel for the answer. We are walkers, so we walked to some central places from this hotel, but I cannot remember how far.

Dear Lynn:
We stayed at the Hotel Niza, right on the beach.

Old town was about a 10 min walk.
You may also want to repost this on the Europe board or do a search there.
Good luck,
MY
