San Sebastian
We are having difficulty booking a room in San Sebastian on October 3 and 4 want suggestions for good places that aren't too expensive (under $100, if possible). We are just going there to check the place out. Should we stay two nights, or is one night enough?

Jim,
You'll love San Sebastian; it's truly a wonderful, beautiful, atmospheric city. And I promise you'll want 2 days there. If you need lodging under $100, consider the Hostal Alemana, across from the Hotel Europa on Calle San Martin, just steps from La Concha beach,
www.hostalalemana.com

or the Hotel Galeria in the upscale Ondarreta beach area. Both are mentioned in several "charming hotels of Spain" guides, and the Hostal Alemana is a favorite of Alistair Sawaday, author of "Special Places to Stay in Spain".
Sorry to jump in on your post Jim but now I have a related question.

I'm spending 2 days next month in this area and booked my nights at the parador in Hondarribia. It looked like a very quaint village and the parador looks marvelous. Transportation connections to San Sebastian are frequent also (I won't have a car).

Should I have booked in San Sebastian versus Hondarribia?
