Hotel Near NYU Hospital
I have to have some surgery this month and need to stay in NYC two nights. Can someone recommend a hotel room in NYC that will be nice for someone stuck in a room but won't cost more than $200 a night (and would prefer nearer to $150). I've tried Priceline with no success so far but would like other options as well. My usual standby of Best Western Seaport Inn is unfortunately completely booked. Thanks!

I won't be so rude as to inquire about the type of surgery you're having, but I might suggest you think about the post-op discomfort level when choosing a hotel. My point is that while budget sounds important to you, have you considered that in this case "you get what you pay for" might mean when you need some ice or even breakfast, there won't be a staff to help you.
If you do consider somewhere where there is a decent staff to guest ratio near NYU, you might check out the Dylan Hotel on 41st between Madison and Park. But, it would cost at least $200+ per night.

thanks everyone for your suggestions and I agree comfort is definitely an issue as I would much rather be home than having to stay at a hospital. Seems like it would almost be cheaper to stay in the hospital overnight!
