Hotel Near MFA Boston?

Hello,

I want to stay in Boston this weekend near the MFA. Any recommendations on a good hotel for $150 per night range? We're a couple early 30'

Marriott Copley Place puts you near the Prudential Center stop of the Green Line E subway. Or you can walk to the MFA. Without checking the mileage, I'd say it was a 20 minute walk down Huntington Avenue.

There aren't any hotels that are right by the MFA, but anything in the Back Bay area would be reasonably close. You'd probably want to avoid Cambridge if you really didn't want be that far.

The Verb might be a nice choice. I have no idea on the quality of the hotel, but it looks cool and would probably be about the closest option.

The walk from Back Bay to the MFA is scruffy, not in the least scary, just lots of student trash near Northeastern and heavy traffic before you get to the Christian Science Center. You do get to see Symphony Hall and Horticultural Hall, though. But it lacks any charm. Take a charming E car on the Green Line.

Not that I am particular. I usually take the 66 bus from Coolidge Corner and change to a, what, 39 at Brigham Circle. Can't get much scruffier than that!

I am also so decrepit that if I walked to the MFA, I would have no energy for the collection.

I don't think "charming" and "Green Line" belong in the same sentence.

Ackislander--in my head I call it the dreaded 66. I transfer to the 66 from the 39 (and in reverse) when going to Allston from JP when my car is repaired.

It is called irony. Perhaps even sarcasm.

If it's a nice day, a walk from the Back Bay to the MFA can be pretty nice -- walk up Boylston St all the way to The Fenway (the street, not the ballpark), then walk through the Fens, which leads to the back of the MFA.

As for hotels, the Back Bay Hilton, the Sheraton, and the Midtown Motor Inn are all within walking distance of the MFA. (The Midtown used to be pretty dicey, but I dunno whether or not it's been cleaned up.)

DonTopaz - while it is supposed to be warmer as the weekend approaches, this is for this weekend. It was 9 degrees F this morning in Boston area. Your walking tour might be nice for the spring, though.

A perfect time to go to the Museum this weekend would be Sunday afternoon - Patriots are in playoffs later Sunday, so crowds should be very light.

I think the MFA will be extremely busy this weekend, the final weekend for the Goya exhibit. Whatever day you go, go early for opening time. The Patriots don't play until 6:40 Sunday night and the Museum closes at 4:45.

There are so many hotels near MFA but I would like to recommend you Sheraton Boston Hotel, within 2 kilometers of Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Midtown Motor Inn and to a lesser extent the Colonnade have been very popular with European tour groups, like the pre-Renovation Essex House in NYC.

Since it isn't tourist season, you might get a deal.

For me, this close, it would be Priceline time, **** in the Back Bay. You are likely to get one of the hotels mentioned here.
