Hotel/ Motel help needed in Nassua County, NY please!
Hi:
I am in need of a block of 6 Rooms in mid-September for a wedding.
I am looking in the Rockville Center, Lynbrook areas.
My choices are
Sunrise Executive Hotel
Diplomat Hotel
or Holiday Inn Rockville Center
all located on Sunrise Highway
Any ideas on these? Or does anyone know of a gem? Rooms are needed just for the one night.
Thanks!

Boy this is a tough one, I live in Nassau county, and I have seen these hotels/motels from the outside. For one night I would suggest the Holiday Inn Rockville Centre. BUT>>>>
There is also the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, which is not far at all from Lynbrook, maybe 15 minutes right down the road (at most with lights) and may be a more comfortable choice for your guests, even at one night. Nice bar, restaurant, etc.. Sunrise Hwy and Hempstead Tpke (which the Marriott is on) run parallel to each other, so it is not an out of the way place by any means. It is right next to the Nassau Colliseum. Do a google search, type in Marriott Uniondale. You can also go on Mapquest.com and find the distance.
I have been to the Marriott, but like I said the Holiday Inn on sunrise Hwy looks a bit crappy from the outside, as I pass it every day into work. I have never been on the inside of the Holiday Inn.

I don't know these hotels specifically, but a suggestion would be to call Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Winthrop University Hospital, North Shore University Hospital, or Franklin Hospital Medical Center and ask which hotel/motel they recommend to stay at in the area when you have a family member receiving treatment at their hospital. Of those mentioned Franklin hospital is closest to where you want.

AC - to be honest with you the ones you listed may be meet-n-cheats. They look cheezy from the outside, and the Holiday Inn has a very gray color to the building, due to I guess all the highway traffic as it is literally right on Sunrise Hwy - yuck! That is why I suggested the Marriott in Uniondale, its affordable and convenient for your location. There is always the Garden City Hotel, which is not too far away from Lynbrook, but it is $$$ than the Marriott, but upscale. For one night the Marriott should be just perfect.
I know you are doing this sight unseen and you are relying on people to help you.....so if I was from out of town and you put me into one of those paces, I would be Kinda pi$$ed. Hope this helps you, I'm just being honest as I drive by these places on a daily basis!

SandyFeet,
What's your point? I read the post, I get that it's a wedding and last I checked Franklin Hospital Medical Center was in Lynbrook. The problem with asking about Hotels/motels in off the beaten track places is that it can be hit or miss whether someone who has actually stayed in one will see the post. For example, you live in the area and acknowledge that you have minimal information on them, like having been inside some of these places. These hospitals, however, will have more information on the actual accomodations because they have an interest in making sure that patient families don't end up in the local sex motel.

Hi:
One of the other suggestions I received from Winthrop Medical Center is
Red Roof Inn in Westbury.
I am familiar with Westbury but not the Red Roof Inn.
What do you think?
Still waiting for the supervision at Marriott to get back to me about any breaks on 6 or more rooms.

Westbury is out of the way (Lynbrook being on the South Shore and Westbury being on the North Shore) for Lynbrook, and may be inconvenient for out of towners to get around - also the neighborhood is a bit iffy if you stray off of Old Country Road (I do not know where the Red Roof Inn is in relation to that road) Please so not be confused with Old Westbury which is very upscale with million dollar homes, there is no Red Roof Inn there, for sure. Just giving my input to help as I live here. FYI The traffic has gotten terrible recently (in the past few years) so even a short distance on a map will take quite a bit of time.

Sandy feet...my hero!!
The Red Roof Inn is brand new, it is off Zeckendorf and the Meadowbrook Parkway. Exit M2
Your suggestion of the Marriott has come up with a co-worker and a friend of my brother's so I am seeing a trend here
Thanks!! I'll keep you posted!

AC another option to try is the Wingate Inn in Garden City on Stewart Ave, also close to the Meadwobrook
www.wingateinngc.com
No personal experience but I grew up in the area & this looks ok.

If you're set on that location, I would choose the Holiday Inn. It's the only one of the three from which you can conveniently walk to restaurants, bars, train station, etc. I haven't been inside any of the three, but the Diplomat looks a little suspect.
That said, I agree with the other posters about considering the Marriott in Uniondale (15 minute drive to Lynbrook, RVC area) or other options. A new hotel is being built near the Holiday Inn (maybe Hampton Inn?) but I don't know when it will be completed.

Thanks you all for your input.
I called the Holiday Inn. They were not too willing to work with me on this. I asked for a manger and "they were not available"
The Marriott however was a Much better story. A lovely woman named Michelle called me back all apologies for not being available when I first called. She offered me up to 20 rooms with no credit card required from me. An excellent rate, breakfast included. The only requirement I have is to make sure that those needing rooms make their reservation 30 days before the wedding. If all the rooms are not taken, they can then be taken off block and sold.
I thank you all for your help!

I'll go out on a limb and recommend the Garden City Hotel. The regular room rate is probably in the $200 range, but since it's a wedding and you'll be booking multiple rooms they might cut you some major slack. If they do, go with it -- it's arguably the nicest hotel in the area.
