White Plains NY/Westchester County

This is probably one of the more bizzare questions but....my son will be doing a two week internship at the IBM research labs in Yorktown Heights and Hawthorn NY in mid August. I'll be coming out with him and we will need some kind of lodging for that two week time period. the web shows both extended stay properties and a marriott residence inn - any input on those two options and/or other ideas for us? thanks

I don't know of any other extended stay type places other than what you mentioned, but you could try the Fishkill or Wappingers Falls, NY area. These towns are 2 counties North of Westchester and will be about a 30 min drive to Yorktown. I know there is a Courtyard by Marriott up there right next to the highway (84). You will also be close to Connecticut (Stamford is your best bet). That is about a 25-30 minute drive to Hawthorne; 40 minutes to Yorktown.

Try Extended Stay America (914-347-8073) on Route 119 in Elmsford, near Tarrytown. It's very close to Hawthorne and about a 20-minute drive to Yorktown.
Further, there are lots of hotels and motels in the area--Courtyard, Hilton, Marriott, Hampton Inn, etc., etc., etc.

Howard pretty much sums it up. Plenty of hotels/motels in the White Plains/Tarrytown/Hawthorn area.

There's a new Comfort Inn (I think) right on 9A in Hawthorne if that what your looking for. Extended stay (a marriott) off of 119 in Greenburgh/Tarrytown area. There are Hiltons and Ramada Inns and Hampton Inns etc/etc in the area. Depends on what you are looking for.

my preference is a place with some kind of cooking facility - eating out three meals a day will get expensive and old if you know what I mean. I'll look into the places mentioned and see what works best. Thanks to all -

About the only place where you might find cooking availability would be in the extended place I mentioned. I don't think you'll have much luck with the hotels and motels in the area.

Residence in at westchester has cooking facilities, free breakfast buffet and I think about 2 block or so from the train into the city.
