Hotel Monteleone or W hotel???

Well I got a great deal on the Monteleone in Sept for $99 weeknight and $109 weekend. But I just got an email special from the W for $99 a night. Which hotel is better? We would like a great pool, comfy and clean rooms. How is the W location? T hanks!

The rooms at the W are small! The glam ends once you pass the entrance and and bars. I assume you're talking NYC? My favorite hotel there is the Embassy Suite. Not sure about a pool but HUGE rooms, especially for the city. It's also got great breakfast and is attached to a movie theater - harbor views are nice.

Monteleone is in the heart of the French Quarter. It is older than the W but M has great charm and has always been a class operation. I don't know about the pool and the room cleanliness should be a toss-up with both good. The piano bar at M remains a favorite for locals, but call to see about renovations. Many NO hotels are being updated for competitive reasons.

The W beds are always outstanding, and I've never been in a dirty W Hotel.

I stayed at the M last month. The rooftop pool at the M is small, but still very nice with plenty of chairs. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, location was perfect, and I loved the NO charm. We walked past the W, which is not far from the Quarter, but I think your stay would have a very different feel. As a youngish person who also enjoys the trendier hotels/restaurants, I would still say go with M.

I think there are two W hotels in New Orleans-one in the quarter (I think it used to be the De La Poste) and one just outside the quarter.

The location of the quarter W is very good.

Definitely, the Monteleone! The W Hotels in New Orleans are a step down from other properties in this chain.
