I live in DC but actually stayed there once (12/31/99) to party w/ friends and watch the millenium fireworks & festivities. It's quite nice, great breakfast/dinner. Rooms were very big. Hotel itself is smallish, somewhat of a boutique hotel size. The only drawback to a tourist is that it's not terribly close to any subway station (about 4 blocks west of Farragut West metro). Plenty of restaurants nearby. Also close to George Washington University & Georgetown nightlife/shopping.

I stayed there once and it is a nice hotel for a boutique. In fact, very nice. The only problem I had was being waken up at 5AM by garbage pickup, the dempsy-dumpster banging as it fell to the ground. But it was very cute. And the walk to the metro was not bad at all.

The hotel is a small itself, but the rooms are very big!!!!!!
I have stayed there at June 2009, my stay was pleasant. Yes there are no metro stops there, but it is the heart of the DC, and there is a circulator stop near the hotel.
I want to mention the Manager MILAN Koviljac, who was excellent, and was doing even impossible to make the stay of the guests as comfortable as possible.
The hotel was clean. Overall it is not a bad choice for the stay especially when you are on the budget

Hotel Lombardy is located at 20th/21st and I Streets, NW, a half-block away from Pennsylvania Avenue. It is five blocks from the White House, three from the Farragut West Metro station, and a block from the campus of George Washington University. It is a great location in which to tour Washington.
