Hotel in Volcano village, BI

Hi, we have a choice of staying at the Volcano House or the Country Goose Hale Koa Nani house for the one night we will be there to see the volcano after 2 nights in Kona. They are both about the same price -$200. Any advice on which would be better? I am not sure how far they are from the parking lot of the Volcano National Park. Has anyone stayed at both? Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, any suggestions for a hotel in Hana for one night? When I had checked a couple of months ago, none would take reservations for one night during that time. Thanks.

excited_confused, I would check the reviews on TripAdvisor.com before booking at Volcano House. I've heard the same kind of comments from a couple of people I've talked with .... the location is great, but the rooms themselves leave much to be desired. I wuld go for the Country Goose, myself!

We stayed at the Country Goose and loved it. Joan is a fabulous host! Our room was very comfortable and even had a TV with movies, slickers and flashlights for hiking at VNP. The bed had a wonderful featherbed on top! Breakfast was yummy french toast with island fruit. I would definitely recommend it!

Thanks a lot - I felt the same way, the Country Goose was my frst choice but earlier I was not getting anything for one night so booked the Volcano House anyway. I was just a little concerned because Joan said the Hale Koa Nani was 5 miles from the B&B. I would welcome any comments from anyone who has stayed there. Thanks again.

The drive from Country Goose to VNP front gate was about 5 minutes, tops.

Thanks, I wonder if the Hale Koa Nani would be much different. I guess the maximum it could be is 5 miles farther since that's how far it is from the Country Goose main house. But once inside the VNP, I am not sure how much time/distance you save by staying at the Volcano House.

excited_confused, I found this website for your Hale Koa Nani. Says your driving distance to the entrance of VNP is about five minutes. I read a post by a lady on TripAdvisor who said she'd stayed in this cabin, loved it and that she hiked from the cabin into the Park and back a couple of times a day, that it was very convenient.

bonniebroad, thanks a lot for the help. I had seen the website but the comment on Tripadvisor was reassuring. I just wasn't sure of the distance as compared to the Volcano House but Country Goose seems to be the preferred choice. Thanks again.
