Hotel in Virginia

I'm looking for a decent hotel near the Pentagon City Mall Metro stop in Arlington, VA.
Ideally less than $100 per night, and safe for a female travelling by herself.

Thanks!

You probably are going to need to pay more than $100, which is pretty low. There is a Hampton Inn and Days Inn near Crystal City that is only one stop away and closer to your price range. You might also consider Priceline.

I agree with Mike, this may be a good area in which to use Priceline. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com to learn how to bid, but don't even think of bidding until you're thoroughly familiar with the process. You can save a lot of $$$ by using PL, but you have to know what you're doing. The moderators at BiddingforTravel will help you construct a bid, if you request it. Good luck.

You may want to repost with a new title that would attract Fodorites in the DC area instead of generic Virginians. A suggestion might be "Searching for a hotel near the Pentagon City Mall Metro stop in Arlington VA."

By the way, I see that this is your first Fodor post. Welcome! If you are unable to find your post when you return to the board, simply click on your username way up at the top of the page to the right of the word "Welcome." Fodors neglects to tell you this and new posters sometimes never return because they are unable to find their posts.

I generally stay at one of the Crystal City Marriotts, though they are above your $$$ specs. The Metro is accessible without going out on the street and I have always felt very safe there.

I agree with the others that Crystal City is a good place to find a hotel.

If you're travelling on the weekend, you will almost certainly get a hotel under $100 using Priceline. I've routinely paid $50-$75 a night for rooms at the Hyatt Regency, Sheraton CC, Hilton, and Marriott CC.

I've never felt unsafe on my own in any of those hotels. I don't typically stay out very late but in the early evening for dinner there are usually plenty of people out and about (often tourists taking advantage of lower weekend rates).

Hi everyone, thanks for all your help.
I will check out priceline.com and the other crystal city hotels.
In the meantime I've followed Betsy's advice and reposted this under a new title.

I was also wondering (I put it in the new post) whether that area around Pentagon City Mall is safe to walk around alone at night. Is it a lively area? obxgirl said in her post that Crystal city area is ok, but it's the mall area I'm curious about.
