hotel in las vegas?

I've recently booked a tour and accommodation prior to the tour is at the 'Howard Johnson' hotel in Las Vegas. From what I've seen this is a low end hotel, although this does not concern me as long as it is reasonably clean and the rooms are self contained. Anyone stayed there recently?

Why book a HoJo?
To stay away from the strip traffic?
A room there won't be much cheaper than one of the more economical strip hotels unless you're going on a big convention weekend or something.

David,

Just curious, what is a "self-contained" room? How does it differ from other types?

RESPONSE TO TOM:

I believe David must be from outside the USA.
The phrase 'self-contained' is one that Europeans use meaning it has a PRIVATE BATHROOM, not shared.

Most of us aren't that familiar with such things as only hostels or bording houses have shared bathrooms in America

Please don't tell me you are booked at the Howard Johnson's by the airport! I had the misfortune of having to stay at that dump when my flight was cancelled. because it was due to a problem with the aircraft, airline gave us a comp room. Awful, awful place. The bathtub was actually black with mold. No elevators had to lug all bags, up fire escape.

Harrah's is having a special now for $89 a night. The promotional # is LVLMD01. You can get it on the internet or by calling (888) 257-8787. You may prefer to stay there.
