Hotel Del Coronado next weekend

I stumbled onto this forum since I will be in San Diego next week myself for a wedding at the Loews Coronada Bay Resort and had wondered how to dress. We are from Kentucky hot & humid. I think I figured out that I will need a sweater or jacket at night, but it might not be trendy per the locals

Hi Becky! I feel your pain. I am from Southern California - lived in the costal area most my life and moved to Texas last August. Yikes it is hot here!
As far as what to wear, as noted above - bring some kind of a layer for the evenings - people tend to be very surprised at how cool it is in the evening - can feel down right cold - which would be a welcomed feeling at this point right?
Starrs - in this Texas heat I often have a light cardigan type sweater with me - all the A/C. In Southern California coastal areas - we all wear light sweaters - I honestly have no idea what the big fuss is about - they are very stylish (frankly I personally think more so than a vest but that is just me.) My teen girls, twenty something DIL also wear them. I was a manager at Nordstrom and Ann Taylor (right at Horton Plaza) so I certainly think of myself as having some fashion sense...
At any rate - you will hopefully be as enchanted with Coranado as the rest of us

Liz... if traveling with a male adult -it is correct that it is casual and that a sports jacket is generally not needed. I am sure you will be fine! Have a blast as well. I have stayed at the Loews before and it is nice - try to get into the more "town" area of Coranado as well.

For a wedding at the Loews, you can wear regular summer wedding attire; a pretty dress and bring a wrap or sweater because this week is cooler than normal.
Coronado is very casual, especially at this time of year when a good 50% of the people in town are tourists. You can wear either a sweater or hoodie at night!
I usually wear a cotton sweater or a light pashmina, but that's what I wear everywhere. (I was born and raised on the island and go back very often)
Restaurants in the Del aren't bad, but you will pay an arm and a leg and there are so many other great places within a 5 minute walk of the Del. Chez Loma, Miguel's, Tent City, the Creamery, Salsa, Cafe Azul. On the other end of Orange Ave are Peohe's, Il Fornaio, and Tartine. Oops, some of them may nnot be as family friendly, eg Chez Loma and Il Fornaio...depends on your baby's temperment.

I always take light sweaters/shrugs, air conditioning indoors can be chilly too, depending on what one is used to.(Alaskans don't think anything is cold though, unless it's minus 15 or so)
I just wanted to mention Brigantine restaurant, on Coronado, also. It has the <RED>BEST</RED> poured Margaritas!
