apartment rental in NYC

We are looking for an apartment rental while visiting NYC. Can anyone recommend any good sites besides VRBO to look for a short term stay( one week).? Thank you.

Short term stays are generally illegal in NYC. Please look at previous discussions. Youll hear lots of responses here all saying the same thing, and get ideas for apartment hotels and hotel ideas

Since short-term apartment rentals are illegal is you are scammed (there are a LOT of scams out there) you have no recourse - since there is no way to enforce an illegal contract. Every week or two there are stories in the local media about people who have "rented" an apartment in NYC and been scammed. Left on a street corner to try to find whatever hotel is available at the walk up rate.

There are quite a few hotels with suites - or all suites. If you tell us the number of people, your dates and your budget people can make recos for lodging that is legal - and will be here when you turn up.

Please do not risk your vacation

Dear nytraveler,
Thank you. We need to stay by a subway that will put us close to the Hilton at 57th. Yes we could stay there and as a safety measure I do have a room booked there.
Budget is 500-600/noc. 2 adults.
Appreciate your and others input.

Is that $500-600 for the week, or per night?

What time of year are you visiting?

Not sure what Hilton is on 57th St. The New York Hilton is on 6th Ave and 52/53 Sts - and is close to the IND E train - but that's coming from Queens and heading downtown. There are a bunch of hotels midtown - Afinia has several pleasant ones in a moderate price range that have a lot of differnt suite configurations. Most are easily walkable to the Hilton. On the upper west side the Beacon has suites 0 but may already be sold out - and is onl a couple of block from the B'way subway - that you could take to near the Hilton.

The Hilton New York (note its correct name) is actually located between 53rd and 54th Streets on 6th Avenue.

I stayed in that Hilton a couple of years ago. I loved it. The staff was nice, the rooms were comfortable, and the location can't be beat.
