Hotel area activities

Hi...we are staying at the Omni Shorham Hotel in April 16-21. Could anybody tell us what is around this area and what this hotel is like? Looking forward to seeing the sites of DC but not sure how to get around. Will be interesting

The Shoreham is a sprawling, older hotel on lovely grounds overlooking Rock Creek Park about a mile north of Dupont Circle. It is within walking distance of the Zoo and the lively Adams-Morgan area, a quick Metro ride to all the sights in the museum-monument downtown.

You don't need to do things right around the hotel, DC is a fairly small city and easy to get around on the metro. Do you know what that is? It's what some people call a "subway". There is a stop just about a block away from the Omni, so no need to sorry about that.

Don't worry Dave.
It is super easy to get around D.C.
Here's a great free paper http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/.
When you get into town be sure to pick one up. It has everything,theater,music,museums..etc.
I usually use it for concerts and book signings.
And here's a map of the rail system.

I have stayed there - great location with easy access to the metro. We had a nice room, but I recall that it wasn't exceptionally soundproof - particularly in terms of hallway noise. I would recommend perhaps one breakfast at the hotel, outside weather permitting for the view but there are some great places to eat right down 15th Street such as The Diner for breakfast. For dinner, Cashion's is quite nice. Both are a 10 minute walk.
