Horseback Riding in Kauai?

Hello,

I will be heading to Kauai in March 2004. I really would like to do some horseback riding. Does anyone have any reccomendations on companies to go with? I have never been riding before.

Thanks!

I had some friends do the Princeville Stables and the place in Poipu. It sounds like the ride in Poipu was a bit less strenuous for a first time rider.

We may look into it this trip.

If you are a novice rider, make that known to the trailride company at time of reservation -- they will then recommend the appropriate ride for you, and will put you on a gentle horse as well.

The trailrides _anywhere_ on this island, are filled with magnificent scenery and (if you're lucky) a dip in a waterfall pool as well.

gyppielou - We did that same ride on our honeymoon - Feb 1987! It was great. I've always wondered if it was still available. Thanks for bringing back a great memory.

Yes bennie, it was a wonderful ride, not a pony to pony ride, but open fields and very light trotting, and a spectacular guide to boot....only better riding trip was a private guide in Lanai. Ahh the memories, they are what makes a moment a life!!!

CJM stables in Poipu.

Great guides, good trails, animals well cared for and matched with the riders.
