Have you made www.mapquest.com your friend yet? It will REALLY help on your upcoming SW trip.

I've done this drive several times at various times of the year, and I don't remember it taking terribly long (certainly under an hour, but I can't remember precisely how long).

What did mapquest and AAA have to say?

Google says it is 31.7 miles and 42 minutes from the Bellagio to Hoover Dam. While on vacation, how tight will your time constraints be? Are you going there and back to Las Vegas? Are you continuing on to another destination? The Hoover Dam site says it is busiest between 10 and 3 but parking is always available. Does your group like to get up early and hit the road (so get there before 10) or prefer afternoon activities (so head out mid-afternoon)? Are you concerned about traffic coming out of Las Vegas or traffic as you near the dam?

I guess I'm just less concerned about a 30 mile drive while on vacation.

No wonder you are having such a hard time understanding the Grand Canyon hiking rules.

We just did this drive two weeks ago.It took about 45 minutes on the way to Las Vegas but took 2 hours on the way back! We actually missed our dinner reservations because of it.

just made this trip April 2. 40-45 min.

We were SO glad we left early in the morning. We did run into some construction traffic on the way, but on our return, the opposing traffic was backed up for miles. Go early (8:30-9) and you should be fine-worth the trip IMHO!

Your trip will be quicker if you get off the Strip quickly. I-15 runs right behind Bellagio. Take Flamingo or Tropicana to I-15 South to I-215 East. I live here.

We went from the Orleans (Tropicana near I-15), and it took about 50 minutes as I recall.
