My wife and I recently spent 6 nights at the Aston Waikiki Sunset. It is about 3 blocks from the beach. Our room had a partial view of Diamondhead, was clean and the price was reasonable (about $100 per night). It is a condo format with a kitchen, living area and a bedroom. We were very satisfied. We do not spend a lot of time in the room so the hotel was fine for our purposes. There was also an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court on the 6th floor. Hotel was convenient to all the local attractions. You would not need a car unless you were traveling around the island.

I think the Parkshore is in a good location; being at the end of Waikiki it is still near the tourist action yet away from the fray. It is near the bus line, across the beach & Kapiolani Park, and was recently renovated so the rooms should be nice!
