Honeymooning in Vegas

I have seen on TV and movies that hotels will upgrade your reservation if you are on a honeymoon. Does this work in real life? If so, how do I go about doing it?

When you make your reservation, tell them it is your honeymoon. When you arrive, politely tell the front desk it is your honeymoon.

Hi honeymooner
I have been upgraded for my birthday so I am sure you will get something for your honeymoon!
Congratulations!

You can try the $20 trick, too, which works at some hotels. Depends on how slick you are, pal. Like you're standing there, with the new spouse in tow, you've got that special newlywed glow about you, and what you do is this: since you've got to take your driver's license and credit card out to give for id and incidentals anyway, as you do so, let a new $20 show on the back side of both your drivers license and cc and say: hey, listen I asked for an upgrade because it's our honeymoon, anything you can do for me would be greatly appreciated. Then hand him or her the license, cc and $20 discretely. Got it. Good luck, Little Britches.

Let me add that it also depends on the time of year. If it is peak season, your chances of getting an upgrade aren't as good as in off season.
