Keep going through Homestead until you get to Key Largo.

Go Travel is right. Is there any reason you are stopping in Homestead other than maybe to get gas or go to the restroom? I can't think of another reason.

I was thinking the same thing! My gp's lived in Homestead and all i remember as a kid was all of the senior trailer parks (my gp lived in one), the coral castle and some dolphin place - that was pretty much it!

You will have lots more to do in Kissimee. All the theme parks, etc. Not much to do in homestead except go North to Miami or South to the keys.

It sounds like you're looking for a place in ADDITION to Kissimee and maybe Clearwater.
South Beach of Miami is a great option, or if you're looking for more laid back and not so expensive, how about Key Largo (if not Key West)?

thanks for your advice, I'll give homestead a miss.We passed through key Largo on the way to Key west 4 years ago.Has that got things for young kids(aged 3 & 4).

We were gonna go to key west, miami and fort lauderdale and homestead seemed to be kinda central.

we're looking for somewhere to stay and use as a base, thats child friendly, near the beach and not too expensive.

What is fort lauderdale or surrounding areas like for our vacation?

I wouldn't dream of trying to use one South Florida base for Kissimmee and the Florida Keys.

Traffic is very heavy in South Florida and you'll spend all of your time in the car if you try and have a home base.

Hollywood Florida is very reasonable place to stay and it is between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

Check out the Mirador Motel. A stones throw to the beach and the accommodatins come with kitchens. Hollywood has the nicest beach in South Florida.
