Holy Toledo! (need good - fun place to stay)

Hey all,
Hope you can help.
Have to travel to Toledo, Ohio
for a graduation party, and family
party / reunion.
Would like to find someplace
*fun* - is that possible?
Preferably in the southern part,
near Maumee.

Know there's a Holiday Inn
French Quarter nearby that
relatives say is *charming* -
but wondered what the
experts think. Anything
interesting,i.e. fun, unique?
Oh, we don't do B & B's,
especially with the kids.

Only experience
in Toledo is Tony Packos, love it.

Thanks in advance.

Another good area would be near
Franklin Park Mall, supposedly
the nicest there.

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone know of a good spa?

Must attend the weekend's family
festivities and would still
like to have fun !

Please help!

Ok, now I'm really scared.
Is Toleo really that awful
that no one has been?
Or will admit to it?

Please help ~ it's my
DH's family and we *must* go.
Would like to salvage something
out of the weekend in terms
of fun ~ is that possible?

Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Since it is a graduation I would guess the time would be the end of May. Not having any idea of what you call fun I will tell of some of the attractions that I have been to while visiting family in Maumee.
---
Fort Meigs State Mem
---
The Battle of Fallen Timbers Site
---
Take a Canal Boad ride near the little town of Grand Rapids.
---
Sauder Farm and Craft Village
---
Maumee Bay State Park
---
Crane Creek State park and the near by NWR
---
Cedar Point Amusement Park
---
Toeledo Zoo
---
All these are within an hour or so of the Maumee area. Keep in mind this area was the American Westerm Frontier in the late 1700's and early 1800's and is full of American History. The canal system alone in the State of Ohio was a engineering marvel in its own right.

Enjoy your trip to Maumee...

I am not familiar with Toledo. We live in Ohio but always head to the Cleveland area. Cedar Point is an excellent suggestion. The Lake Erie islands are fun to! Suggest Kelly's unless you want to party, then it would be Put-In-Bay.

Thanks Red Rock and CD!

We've actually been to the
Lake Erie Islands, but I
forgot they were so
close!

Checked out your list
Red Rock, some great ideas.

Still wondering about a place
to stay. Nice hotels downtown
but prefer the southern *burbs*
and something with personality.
French Quarter Holiday Inn
only has Kings left, and
we'll have the whole family.

Any ideas?
Thanks again all.

Check something on I-475 and Airport Highway (SR-2) or anything in that general area south. Easy to get to Maumee. If you are a member of AAA they can help. There are several places on Reynolds Rd and the OH Tpk. They are a little old and that part of town is getting a little rundown. You may want to check with the DH's family, maybe they can suggest something. Where is the graduation being held.....

We were in Perrysburg, Ohio very briefly two weeks ago. My son was home from college for a few days and he was driving back with a fellow student who lives in Toledo. Anyway, we had to meet at Perrysburg High School. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the area. It seemed quite nice. There were several restaurants and it stuck me as a safe area. There were some new large homes being built and the high school appeared to be new.

I believe the Holiday Inn French Quarter is in this area. It gets good reviews on tripadvisor. I think I would go with that Holiday Inn.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the additional
replies.
We did get the French Quarter
and it looks fairly nice.
Any ideas for an afternoon
at a spa?

Just a suggestion - since you are not receiving alot of info regarding hotels on this site have you checked www.tripadvisor.com? If you do a search on Toledo you might find some more feedback.
