Knoebels Amusement Park

My sister is going to go to Knoebels (her children are 5 & 8) and looking for a place to stay for the night, does anybody have any recommendations? Also any good rest. to eat at? What else is around the area? Thanks for any info. Did a search but didn't see anything for places to stay.

there are a few B&B's in the area, but i dont know any names. Knobles has a camp ground that connects to the park so that may be an option, i even think they have cabins(with electric) that you can rent. But here again i could be wrong. I live about 90 min. away and have looked into lodging.

Knoebels is located in the countryside which makes it the nice park it is, but accomodations must be made a few minutes away. Try searching Bloomsburg, Danville, Selinsgrove, or Williamsport. If you need more help please give a few more details (where is she coming from, how many days are they staying, and of course what $ range etc...)and I'll suggest specific places that are very nice. I live quite close by.

oh yeah, as for places to eat...the park actually has a few good places. Outside the park - well it depends on where she stays...let me know and I'll post a few good places.

She will be coming from the Jersey shore. She would like to stay 2 nights. She was planning on leaving on late Tuesday morning and come home on Thursday. Her price range I would say is about $80-$100 maybe more. Thanks

Hotels in the Bloomsburg area, which exits off of I-80, include:

ECONO-LODGE - 189 Columbia Mall Drive - (570) 387-0490

HAMPTON INN - 255 Papermill Road - (570) 380-1020

TENNYTOWN MOTEL - Columbia Blvd. - (570) 784-1812

Bloomsburg is only a 15-20 minute car ride to Knoebels. There are many other hotels the next exit down on I-80, in Danville, if you can't find anything in Bloomsburg. Let me know and I'll post numbers.

There is a hotel/motel in Elysburg, which is only 5 minutes from Knoebels, but I can't think of the name and don't see it in the phone book. I'll post if I remember, otherwise, maybe LilyLace knows which one I'm referring to (on Rt. 42, just north of Rt.61)

As far as eating, they can find everything they need right in the park. If they want a nice sit down meal, they should eat at The Alamo. Ask for a window seat so they can people watch. Otherwise, Knoebels pizza always wins awards or they can just bring a picnic, if they like. There are plenty of pavillions and you can bring your own charcoal grill, just deposit the coals in the proper, indicated space.

They'll have a great time at Knoebels (pronounced with a hard K). If I think of the name of the other hotel I'll post. Peace.

Check out this website for the county tourist promotion agency.

http://www.itourcolumbiamontour.com/

Click on lodging for a list of the hotels in the area. I don't see the one in Elysburg, so maybe it's no longer in existence. Peace.

What a flash from the past!! Altho I can't help you with hotels, I just wanted to chime in with how much I *love* Knoebels. The last time we were there was 15 years ago and I hope it is still exactly the same. It was like a trip back in time, even then. A beautiful place set in an environment that was full of trees, but also with great rides.

We've been going to Knoebel's for 25+ years now, and if anything, it just keeps getting better. The trees and the creeks and all the old rides (like bumper cars, the train rides, the carousel and those hard to steer boats) are all still there, however in the last 15 years they have added 4 major amusement park rides - 2 wooden roller coasters and 2 water rides. Also new is a coal mining museum and a carousel museum - still there are all those old machines run on steam generated power . If it's really hot, you can still take a dip in the pool, which now has several water slides. Have you been up to ride the Phoenix yet, one of the top 5 wooden roller coasters? If not, you should try to make a trip to Knoebels before the season is over. It's still free admission and free parking, you just pay for the rides you want to go on. Pack a picnic lunch and you can't beat the price.

If you can't make it up before the season ends, there is a 3-day arts & crafts festival, the Covered Bridge Festival, held at Knoebel's on October 8-10, Friday through Sunday. There are 250+ crafters selling their wares. It's a good place to start Christmas shopping.

And, even though the park has officially closed for the season, they open up select rides on Saturday for the annual Roller Coaster Enthusiasts convention, although the general public are invited. For a flat fee (something like $10/person) you get 2 slices of pizza (their award winning pizza), a soda and as many rides on their 6 roller coaster-like rides and a dozen or so other adult rides, including the Haunted House (voted #1 by Dark Ride Enthusiasts).

If you're into covered bridges, there are several bus tours (thus the name, Covered Bridge Festival) that you can take that travel through Columbia and Montour counties, where there are more covered bridges than any other county in the country (or something like that). Anyway, it makes for a lovely time, especially if the weather cooperates and the leaves decide to change that weekend.

Come on up to Knoebels and relive some old memories. Peace.

Robyn's suggestions are great! I'll ask a woman I work with about the motel on 42, she lives in Elysburg and should know it.

It's good to consider that Williamsport is close by and the Little League World Series will be opening soon, hotels get pretty booked up so I'd reserve soon. It's the only real tourist time of the year here!

Just a note to the mention of Pizza: Knoebel's sells pizza in 2 locations but they are 2 totally different pizzas! The award-winning pizza is fantastic and always our treat at the end of a long day of riding! You'll find the good stuff at Cesari's Pizza next to the Haunted Mansion.

Oh by the way, I'll be at K's next Sunday for my company picnic, so if your sister is coming then tell her to stop by Pavillion S and ask for Lily!

Thanks everyone for all your help. My sister booked 2 rooms at the Days Inn in Danville for this Tuesday and Wednesday night. I sent all the info. that everyone sent so she could read all your replies and decide what to do. A few more people are going and she is also taking my daughter so I can't wait to hear all about Knoebels.

Lilylace thanks for the invite next Sunday but she will be leaving sometime on Thursday.

Again thank you all for all your help. It is so nice to be able to come to a site like this and everyone is willing to help you with your vacation plans. If anyone ever needs help on information in South Jersey (all the way at the bottom of the state Cape May County), some people call it the shore also just email.
