Highway 89 Painted Desert

I am planning on taking a trip to the grand canyon in Febuary. I would like to know if highway 89 south going to Flagstaff is worth the visiting. Will snow be covering the ground of the desert. Is there any shops where I can buy Indian crafts. Any Help?

- Thanks

If you exit the Canyon through the East Entrance and go south on 89 to Flagstaff you won't see anything worthwhile with regard to the desert. There is, howver, a loop road that will take you through Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments. I don't know if road is open in February. When you reach I 40 you will be a few miles from Walnut Canyon National Monument.
