Years ago my family stayed at a lodge somewhere in Alabama. I believe it was one of the highest places in Alabama and the scenery was great and lodge was neat. Does this place still exist? Some kind of Indian name I think it was.
I believe the place you are referring to is Mt. Cheaha. It is the highest point in Alabama and there is a state run lodge there along with cabins and campsites.
I stayed there a few times many years ago, it is beautiful.
To make reservations at the lodge, call (256) 488-5115 or 1-800-846-2654. Get more info on the park at: http://www.dcnr.state.al.us/parks/state_parks_index_1a.html This is a great spot to visit in the fall. Very accessible spot off I-20.
