Hey New Yorkers

What does a "No Standing" sign mean in NY? Thanks!

It's one level stronger than no parking. You can't stop the car or truck and keep the engine running at that spot.

Thank you. I'll tell DH that. He is $115 poorer today! LOL He just HAD to stop at Starbucks on the way to the Yankees game last night and parked in the wrong spot.

And while whether you can park somewhere might change based on time of day or alternate side parking regulations, these signs say "NO STANDING ANYTIME."

There are 3 levels of control:

No parking - obvious

No standing - acn't have the car waiting there for someone - even if you're sitting in the driver's seat and the engine is running

No stopping - you can't even pull over to let anyone out of the car

It is a curse put on NY drivers by Red Sox fans to make the game experience even more painful.
