Help with California coast hotels..

I was wondering if anyone has stayed in any of these places in California:

The spanish garden inn, Santa Barbara

The Gosby house or The Spindrift, Monterey

The Orchard, San Fran

These are some of the places we are looking to stay during our coast trip. Has anyone stayed in these palces? Any help, advice, expreinces would be appreciated!

We enjoyed our stay at the Spindrift. Some reports have not been favorable lately, tho. We received a corner king room for $200 with our E-Book, but they have since pulled out of that publication. The rooms are rather pricey, I would stay at the Plaza over the Spindrift any time.

We stayed at the Plaza a few weeks ago and now I won't stay anywhere else while visiting Monterey. True first-class luxury place with a lot of space! **kim**

We also stayed at the Plaza in MOnterey in mid May. Great hotel . We had a garden view and it was great. Walked past the Spindrift- looks nice from the outside right in Cannery Row, however, I don't think you can go wrong witht he Plaza. Rooms were first rate. Greta service. They do only have valet parking which is 16 dollars a day, however, they were very efficient and we never had to wait for our car.

Also check into the Monterey Bay Inn. It is just steps down from the Monterey Plaza. We stayed there last summer and had an ocean front room - only way to go - and it sits right over the water with the water coming up under the balcony. You are supplied with binoculars in the room to check out the local marine life. We saw sea otters and sea lions from our balcony. Don't be fooled by the looks from the outside of the hotel, the rooms are great and quite spacious. We are going back this summer.

Kimamom, I'm so relieved to see your post!I have long respected your post and thought we seem to enjoy similar spots, but could never imagine why my two rooms on two different floors were so discusting in comparison with the corner room you liked. The maid was cleaning the carpet, the elevator door opened and a steel plate cracked me on both knees, but all they did was send me a coupon for $75.00 off a $300.00 new reservation. In all fairness, they also said they were about to 'refresh', I'd love to know if this has happened. the location is exceptional, but I still expect a clean room.
